Room 1: The Housekeeper’s Room
Victorian Resources
This room houses a collection of artefacts from the Victorian era. From the overseas travels of the Bute family to the household chores of the servants, a handling collection allows students to study objects chosen to inspire them and stimulate discussion. Resources for activities include Victorian costumes, domestic items, toys and a model of the Castle.
Room 2: The Steward’s Room
Roman and Norman Resources
A selection of replica armour, weapons, costume and domestic items are available for students to try on, handle and discuss. In addition, there are original archaeological finds recovered during excavations at the Castle. Roman and Norman resources can be used separately or together, to suit the needs of individual groups.
