JOIN A CASTLE TOUR
For a small additional fee you can join an expert guide on one of our fascinating and informative castle tours. Follow in the footsteps of the Bute family and delve a little deeper in to the history of this amazing building.

HOUSE TOURS
For a small additional fee you can follow in the footsteps of the Bute family, accompanying one of our expert guides on a fascinating and informative tour of the spectacular Victorian living quarters. The tour lasts for approx. 50 minutes and is essential if you’re looking to delve a little deeper in to the history of this amazing building.
As well as taking in the Arab Room, Banqueting Hall, Small Dining Room, Library, your guide will lead you through a selection of rooms which are not accessible as part of the Castle Ticket. These rooms, including The Winter Smoking Room, Nursery, Sitting Room, Lord Bute’s Bedroom, The Rooftop Garden and now the Chaucer Room, contain some of the most stunning and opulent interiors in the whole Castle.

CLOCK TOWER TOURS
The Clock Tower is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Cardiff. Within the tower are some of the most stunning rooms in the Castle. Follow your guide up the spiral staircase from the Winter Smoking Room to the Bachelor Bedroom and finally to the breath-taking Summer Smoking Room.
The tour lasts approximately 30 minutes and will run regularly on weekends and bank holidays throughout the summer season. Please note there are many steep and uneven steps on this tour and may not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

FILM LOCATION TOURS

The BBC hit TV shows of Doctor Who, Sherlock, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures have all used Cardiff Castle as a film location. Take this exclusive guided tour of the Castle for a closer look at where these terrestrial and incredible intergalactic scenes were shot. The tour, led by an expert guide, will take in locations across the Castle and will last approximately 40 minutes. Please note there are many steep and uneven steps on this tour and may not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
Private tours can be arranged for additional charge of £25 per tour, in addition to Castle admission (covers up to 6 people, additional guests charged at standard rate). If you have a larger group, please contact us to discuss prices.

CONNOISSEUR TOURS

For a truly exclusive visit, take a private tour of the Castle Apartments with your own personal guide who will give you a further insight into the Castle’s exquisite decoration and the powerful personalities that transformed the Castle in the nineteenth century. The tour also includes a visit to the spectacular rooms in the Clock Tower. Please note there are many steep and uneven steps on this tour.
This tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and is suitable for groups of 2- 8 people (minimum of 2 required); the price also includes tea or coffee, a Welsh cake and a souvenir guidebook.
