The impressive site you see today, in the heart of Wales' capital city, is at once a Roman fort, a Norman stronghold and a Victorian Gothic fantasy palace. We invite you to come inside and piece together over 2000 years of fascinating history from Cardiff's earliest settlement, right up to the second world war and beyond.
OPENING TIMES
Cardiff Castle is open to visitors 7 days a week all year round, apart from the 25 and 26 December, and 1 January. There are also certain special event days during the year where admission is only open to event ticket holders.

CASTLE TICKET
Explore the Castle at your own pace with an Audio Guide, climb the Norman Keep, visit Firing Line and the Wartime Shelters, discover the Roman remains and marvel at the Castle Apartments, some of the most lavishly decorated rooms that you’re ever likely to see.

THE VISITOR CENTRE
We welcome anyone to come in to the Castle’s Visitor Centre free of charge during opening hours. Browse away in the Castle Gift Shop, grab a beverage and a bite at the Keep Terrace Bistro or chat with our helpful staff in the city’s Tourist Information Centre.
